If the casualty is not breathing normally - continued

You can use the same procedure on a small child or baby.
               HOWEVER...

In the case of a small child you should only use one hand or two Imagine a line across the baby’s nipples.
hands as you feel necessary. Place two fingers a fingers breadth just under the line.
Press a third of the way down on their chest. Use two fingers only on a baby of 12 months or less.
Be more gentle and work at 100 compressions per minute. Resuscitate a baby for one minute before attempting to go for help.

Always give 5 rescue breaths before you start compressions.
After every 30 compressions stop and give two rescue breaths.

Warning EXTERNAL CHEST COMPRESSIONS AND VENTILATIONS SHOULD
ONLY BE PRACTISED ON A MANNEQUIN.
