6. Once you have rolled the casualty, lift the leg up and
over to put it at a right angle (as shown). Before doing
this put your hand on the casualty’s forehead and tilt
head back and lift chin to maintain airway (see page 71).
This is how a person placed in the recovery position
should be resting. Stay with them until help arrives, Bent arm and leg
checking their breathing every minute. Hand supports head stops person rolling.
If you are alone and have to dial 999 or 112 yourself, leave the person in the recovery position and return as quickly as possible and
remember to start your checks from Basic Life Support - page 68.
