            On the victim...                                    What can I do if it is happening to me?...
            • They are made to feel hated and despised.
            • Some people even end up hating themselves.        • Refuse to accept this hassle. You have the right to live without discrimination.
                                                                • The person being hateful is the one with the real problem!

            • It is dangerous because it spreads hate
               and violence.                                    If it is happening to a friend or neighbour?...

                                                                How can I help stamp out hate crime?...

                                                                You as a young person can make a real difference.
                                                                Which of these things need doing now in your school?

                                                                • Make sure your school has information displayed about helplines which help
                                                                   young people who are suffering from hate crime.

                                                                • Learn which words people like to be used about themselves and which they do not
                                                                   like and explain them to adults such as parents and grandparents.

                                                                • See whether your school or club could have an anti-hate crime campaign and get
                                                                   involved yourself.

                                                                • Make sure you tell someone in authority when you see or hear it happening.
                                                                   It is not ’telling tales’ or being a ‘grass’ but allowing people to have their
                                                                   basic human rights.
